Privacy Policy
Pour Decisions — Last updated August 14, 2026
Pour Decisions ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that helps you find active happy hours near your location. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
- Location. We request your precise location to find happy hours near you and to display venues on the map. We do not store your browsing location against your account. We do record which approximate map squares (about one kilometre across) have already been searched, so we do not repeatedly re-scan the same area; that record is not linked to you or to your device. When you submit a venue, the coordinates of that submission are stored with it, so we can match the submission to the right venue — these are retained with the submission and are deleted when you delete your account.
- Email address. When you create an account, we collect your email address. It is your sign-in identifier, and we use it to verify your account and to send you a code if you reset your password. It is stored on our servers, is visible to our administrators, and is deleted when you delete your account. We do not collect your name. We also assign your account an identifier (a random UUID) that we use internally to link your submissions and activity.
- Photos. If you submit a photo of a happy hour menu or sign, the image is uploaded to and stored on our servers. The image is analysed by an AI model (Amazon Bedrock) to read the happy hour details out of it, so we can list them on the venue's page. If the photo file carries embedded location information (EXIF), we read those coordinates and store them with the submission to locate the venue. You may only submit photos you have the right to share.
- Feedback and reports. If you send us a feature request, we store what you wrote together with your account, and our administrators read it alongside your email address so we can follow up. If you report a venue listing or a photo, we store the reason against your account, but administrators reviewing reports do not see your email address. Both are deleted when you delete your account.
- Advertising identifier. The app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To deliver them, Google collects your device's advertising identifier along with technical information about your device. See the Advertising section below.
- Crash and diagnostic data. We use Sentry to collect crash reports and error diagnostics. Reports contain technical information (device type, OS version, app version, stack traces) and your anonymous account identifier. No name, email, or precise location is included in crash reports.
- Usage data. Our servers automatically record standard request logs (timestamps, endpoints accessed) for reliability and debugging purposes.
- App usage analytics. We record which screens and features you use in the app (for example, opening the app, viewing a venue, or tapping directions), together with an installation identifier, your platform, and the app version. The installation identifier is created by the app on your device, is specific to Pour Decisions, and is not an advertising identifier. It is derived on your device using a one-way calculation, so the device identifier it is derived from never leaves your device and cannot be recovered from what we store. It persists if you reinstall the app. The app also shows you a short support code based on this identifier, so you can tell us which installation to look at without giving us anything that identifies your device. If you sign in, this activity is linked to your account so we can understand how people move from browsing to creating an account. This app-usage data stays on our own servers, is never sold or shared with third parties, and is never used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. It is separate from the advertising identifier described above, which Google does receive.
How We Use Your Information
- To show you active happy hours near your current location.
- To authenticate your account and process venue submissions.
- To improve the accuracy and coverage of venue data.
- To read happy hour details out of the photos you submit, using an AI model.
- To diagnose crashes and maintain the stability of the app.
- To maintain the security and reliability of the service.
- To display advertisements in the app.
Advertising
Pour Decisions is free and is supported by advertising. We show banner and interstitial ads supplied by Google AdMob.
Ads in this app are non-personalized. They are selected from the general context rather than from a profile of your interests or your activity in other apps, and we do not show you a tracking-permission prompt because we do not request permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Serving an ad still involves collection. Google receives technical information about your device and, where the device makes one available, its advertising identifier — used to deliver ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to detect invalid traffic and fraud. On iOS, because we do not show a tracking-permission prompt, the system does not release the advertising identifier to us or to Google. On Android the identifier is available unless you have opted out in your device settings. Note that choosing non-personalized ads limits how such an identifier is used, not whether it is collected.
Google's handling of this data is governed by its own policies. See Google's Business Data Responsibility page and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings — on iOS under Privacy & Security, and on Android under Settings → Google → Ads.
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers who help operate the app:
- Amazon Web Services — cloud hosting, storage, and authentication (AWS Cognito), and AI analysis of submitted photos (Amazon Bedrock). Receives your email address and the photos you submit.
- Google — map display and venue search (Google Maps Platform).
- Google AdMob — advertising. Receives your advertising identifier and device information, as described under Advertising.
- Expo — over-the-air app updates (EAS Update). When the app checks for an update on launch it sends your platform, the update channel, a fingerprint identifying which build of the app you are running, and a persistent identifier for your installation that is generated by the update service. That update identifier is separate from the installation identifier described under App usage analytics above, which stays on our own servers.
- Sentry — crash reporting and error diagnostics.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Data Retention
Account data is retained until you request deletion. Submitted photos are retained to support the venue database. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. Crash reports are retained for up to 90 days. App usage analytics are retained for up to 13 months. If you delete your account, your usage analytics are unlinked from it and retained only in anonymous form.
Your Choices
- Location. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. The app requires location to function.
- Advertising. Ads are non-personalized and cannot be turned off in the app, but you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.
- Account deletion. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Profile → Delete Account). Deletion removes your email address, account identifier, submissions, submission coordinates, photos, feature requests, and reports from our servers.
Children
Pour Decisions is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. The app involves content related to alcoholic beverages and is intended for adults of legal drinking age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be noted by updating the date at the top of this page.
